Vaniyambadi was one of the Bara Mahal district towns. Bara Mahal were the twelve small fiefdoms ruled by twelve chieftains. The land was covered by jungle and dry land. The Atheetheswara temple at old Vaniyambadi signifies how old this town is. The famous Chola king Rajendra I, in 1390, had gifted some sheep to this temple to keep the lamp burning perpetually to Lord Virundinevar in this temple. This information is inscribed on the northern wall of the above temple. From the last quarter of the 13th century to the first half of the 14th century, Kongunadu was ruled by three distinct powers – the Pandias, the Hoyasalas, and the Cheras. Vaniyambadi was a part of Kongunadu.
Alhamdulillah, I am very happy to inform you that we have been identified for the award of FIST fund from the DST. We have been asked to furnish the lab first, buy some hardware for Networking and Computing (perhaps our college is going to get the first Server in 15 years!!).
In this connection we have been awarded three of the five instruments we had asked for viz, FTIR, UV-Vis Spec and Gas Chromatography, amounting to about 30 Lakhs! (The first instalment of the 5 year plan). This is a great thing to hear for the Department, the Management and the Staff. The old botany lab has been earmarked as a Lab for instrumentation & Computer Lab for the Dept of Chemistry. The renovation is under way.
Khaderia Higher Secondary School produced 100% result in SSLC exams in the year 2006-07. We congratulate the management, teachers and the students for their hard-work.
