HYDERABAD : The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to expedite construction of the controversial dam on the river Palar near Kuppam despite objections raised by Tamil Nadu.
The Congress government aims to embarrass the former chief minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu. It wants to show that Naidu failed to construct the dam in his own constituency, and that it is left to the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, to tackle irrigation and drinking water problems in the area.
